What is the BVCSA?
It is a not-for-profit organization that represents the students of Bow Valley College. The BVCSA is 'recognized for the purposes of the College Act by the Lieutenant Governor for the Province of Alberta." It is funded by SA fees collected by BVC. Please refer to article 93 in the Post- Secondary Learning Act for more details.

Students’ Council Meetings
Students’ Council meets on a bi-weekly basis and invites you to attend.
General Council Meetings are open to all SA members, drop in and learn what the SA is doing for you, and how you can help and/or take part.
The Students' Association's mission is to be a representative organization dedicated to the effective presentation of the Bow Valley College student body through encouragement, enhancement, and enrichment of a fundamental approach toward student life within and outside of the college..
The Students' Association provides a complete health and dental plan, speaks for students at the college's Board of Governors, Academic Council, as well as providing events for students, scholarships, subsidies, leadership opportunities, social networking, student agendas, a place to hang out and more. These services are available to all Bow Valley College students. Included in our services is the online newsletter "The Voice", representation on various college committees and a chance to work together for change through the power of advocacy.
The Bow Valley College Students' Association works to ensure that Bow Valley College students have an opportunity to participate in all matters that may affect student life at the College. The responsibilities associated with this mandate are immense. The SA ensures that all students are well represented on academic and non-academic committees and boards on and off campus. In addition, the Students' Association provides students with avenues for personal growth and development outside the classroom as well as enhancing services offered by the Association.
Students’ Council is the governing board of BVCSA. Volunteers who work in this capacity are elected each Fall from and by the student body. Students' Council meets at least twice a month during the school year and is responsible for directing the overall goals of the Students' Association. Students' Councillors usually volunteer about 5-10 hours a month, and receive a small honorarium for their hard work on students' behalf. If you are interested in becoming a Students' Councillor, please stop by the SA office (Room 249) or contact us at mailsa@bowvalleycollege.ca or our main line 403-410-1695.
Run for Council
Elections processes are the backbone of a solid student government and the BVCSA prides itself on election procedures that produce the best Students' Council members. Any full or part time student who has paid their BVCSA fee's is eligible to be nominated for a position on Students' Council.
Your input is important, so stop by the SA Office or chat with a councilor because we are working together for change as leaders in action.
